Tend your gardens. Bite your enemies.
Tend your gardens. Bite your enemies.

Hi! My name is Anna McKay, and I am a student at Milan Institute studying to be a Professional Manicurist.
I am a nail artist dedicated to creating hand-sculpted nail art in my moss-lit studio sanctuary. My work is a blend of artistry and intention, where each design is carefully crafted to reflect the unique personality of my clients. I believe in the transformative power of beautiful nails and the confidence they inspire. My philosophy centers on tending to your aesthetic garden while channeling your inner strength. I specialize in intricate, custom nail designs that go beyond typical salon services, offering a truly personalized experience that celebrates individuality and self-expression.

My journey in art started young. My mother was an artist and a librarian, so I grew up surrounded by the classics. I graduated college with a BFA in Metalsmithing & Jewelry and a second BFA in Sculpture; but then I settled down, got married, and had two amazing kids. Unfortunately, we fell on hard times, and after 17 years my skills weren't up to date. I spent months looking for a job, but nothing was available for me that allowed me to be available for my kids. My husband suggested becoming a Nail Tech, since neighbors and friends had commented on my nails many times previously.
I thought it was out of reach. I was just a Mom, and I knew enough to know I wasn't doing my own nails properly. I didn't want to hurt anyone, so I started looking for online classes to learn more about nail anatomy and upkeep.
That's when I found Milan Institute. Gus Robles met with me the next day, and explained how the nail industry is for everyone - even 40 year old Moms. Now I'm a part of Milan's Async Program and working toward my official license! I work on campus learning skills and techniques, practice hands-on learning, and I am starting to build my client base. At home, I study Academics while still being a full-time Mom.
I can't wait to see where this new chapter of life takes me!
