Hello! My name is Val, Valerie for short. I'm from Memphis, Tennessee and currently an esthetician student at Paul Mitchell NYC. My goal once I graduate is to familiarize myself with the beauty industry and gain job experience.
One thing about me is I'm a huge advocate for the electronic dance music (EDM) community. I love the process of planning and getting ready for these events as if I'm customizing my avatar like video game characters. I absolutely love different people's style, makeup, and believe each individual coming into the scene is special and unique no matter what age they are. I believe no one is too old to have fun.
That's the ✨beauty✨ (;D) of it.

I love getting ready for a music festival, especially with friends and enjoy sharing beauty advice with each other. At the time, I thought I knew everything about skin and how it works. That was, until I was humbled with “adult acne” in college.
I started attending music festivals with clear skin but later when I started actively breaking out, I learned the world treated me differently when I had acne vs when I had clear skin. People were looking at my face as if it was unhealthy, unattractive, or even scary. I started feeling insecure at music festivals, an environment where I used to feel the most secure.
I cleared my breakouts and discovered I want to also help others feel confident in their skin, especially at music festivals where we want to look and feel our best. I entered the beauty industry with the driving mindset of “forget everything you think you know and educate yourself with the correct information to help others”.
