Cosmetology Educator
Position Summary
The Cosmetology Educator is responsible for inspiring, educating, and preparing future beauty professionals for successful careers in the cosmetology industry. This role combines technical instruction, student mentorship, clinic floor supervision, and professional development to create an engaging learning environment that reflects the high standards of Tennessee School of Beauty.
Our educators are expected to lead by example, demonstrate professionalism, encourage student success, and foster a positive culture built on respect, accountability, and excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
Classroom Instruction
- Teach cosmetology curriculum in accordance with Tennessee State Board requirements and TSB standards.
- Deliver engaging classroom lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on instruction.
- Evaluate student progress through practical and written assessments.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Ensure students are prepared for state board examinations.
Clinic Floor Supervision
- Supervise students while performing services on guests.
- Coach students through technical challenges while promoting independence.
- Ensure sanitation, safety, and infection control standards are consistently followed.
- Maintain a professional salon atmosphere.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve concerns professionally.
Student Development
- Mentor students academically and professionally.
- Encourage attendance, professionalism, and accountability.
- Help students develop confidence and career readiness.
- Recognize struggling students early and collaborate on intervention plans.
- Celebrate student accomplishments and milestones.
Professional Growth
- Attend required staff meetings and quarterly trainings.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities.
- Stay current on industry trends, products, and techniques.
- Represent TSB professionally both inside and outside the school.
Qualifications
Required
- Current Tennessee Cosmetology Instructor License (Reach out about our isntructor training course)
- Current Tennessee Cosmetology License
- Strong technical skills in haircutting, coloring, styling, chemical services, and salon operations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for teaching and mentoring
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and administration
Preferred
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience
- Experience working in a salon environment
- Leadership experience
- Familiarity with Milady curriculum and educational technology
